Why Does High Creatinine Reappear after Receiving Kidney Transplant2012-09-21 09:05
Kidney transplant seems to be the last choice for Renal Failure patients. It can help patients get rid of dialysis and stay to alive. However, some patients may find that their creatinine levels higher after a period of time of receiving kidney transplant.
How does kidney disease happen? When our immune system is abnormal, the immune complexes produced by the combination of antigen and antibody can not be removed out of body. Some of them stay in blood, while some can deposit in kidneys and other organs. For kidneys, these immune complexes belong to the foreign body, so kidneys don’t allow these immune complexes to stay here. Our body will secrete the inflammatory factors to accumulate in kidneys to fight against these immune complexes, and we call this battle immune inflammatory reaction. This batter damage not only the immune complexes also kidney itself. As a matter of fact, the kidney damage caused by immune inflammatory reaction is more severe than that caused by these immune complexes.
Kidney transplant is just such an operation which puts a new kidney into patients’ body. The immunity has not been improved, and the previous abnormal immune system has not been rebuilt as well. Moreover, the anti-rejection drugs patients receiving kidney transplant have to take for the rest of their life can destroy the immune system further. In that case, once infections occur, even a small cold, a new round of immune inflammatory reaction comes, then new kidney damage is unavoidable. That is the reason why patients may find their creatinine level higher again.
No one can guarantee that neither the kidney transplant can be 100% successful nor everything will be smooth after a kidney transplant. Once the new kidney damage reoccurs, what will you do? Go back to the dialysis treatment or receive another kidney transplant?
In order to avoid this happening, patients who receive kidney transplant should pay more attention in their daily life, have a healthy diet, form a good living habit and prevent infections. As to those Renal Failure patients who have not received kidney transplant yet, they can choose another treatment which can enhance kidney function and rebuild the innate immune system of human body just like other Renal Failure patients.
